Christmas Magic

This was a good year. It was my little families first year in our new house and our first year celebrating Christmas morning just us 4. I didn't get many pictures as I was watching and enjoying the moments.

This Christmas I did something a little different. I have never been a fan of buying tons of toys so they can play with them for the day and either break them or get bored with them and never play with them again. My children already have a ton of these toys.

So....In our new house we have no carpet so it can get cold. In the evenings my kids favorite thing to do is get wrapped in blankets and watch TV. However my kids sometimes...okay always fight over the blanket(s). So for Christmas this year I made Quillows. It is a blanket that can fold into a pillow. I wasn't sure how the kids would accept this gift so on Christmas Eve we read a book call "The Christmas Sweater" this story is a sweet reminder that you may not always get what you want for Christmas and that things homemade out of love have Christmas Magic.

So Christmas morning and Mason is the first to open his gift with the Quillow in it. His pulls it out and tells me "It's a pillow". I tell him "It is not just a pillow but also a blanket". I show him how the pillow unfolds into a blanket and his eye fill with amazement. He loves it! He tells me in the summer he can use it as a pillow and in the winter as a blanket. Lucas was amazed that I actually made it. I even made one for my oldest Samantha who is leaving Sunday to go back to BYU-I, so even far away I can wrap her, comfort her and keep her warm.
Still in the pillow form

Sorry no picture of Sam or her quillow, she opened her presents with her "biological" parents this year.

Temple Lights

I have never been to the Oakland Temple during Christmas with all the lights. Well I can now say I have. Saturday I took the kids to the Oakland Temple to see the "Reflections of Christ" and the lights.

2 hour drive + 1 hour on Temple grounds = Priceless Memories
